Greetings & Salutations

I was inspired to start this blog by my son, Rhys. Rhys was born 7 weeks early, due to placenta flow issues, & spent 6 weeks in the NICU.  My husband & I were told that he has Down's syndrome 1 week after his birth.  Since then, I've become quite the expert, taking to the internet to read countless articles & informational websites.  However, I found that I took the most comfort from the blogs that I stumbled upon.  Reading honest words from other parents that had experienced the things that I was experiencing was so much more helpful than medical facts & Science (not that I don't love Science - I'm a big fan!).  I learned that I was lucky to be a part of this community & I was ashamed of my own prior ignorance.  I plan to use this blog as a way to provide support & kindness to people who receive their own child's diagnosis & also to share Rhys' journey.  Please contact me any time!  Ask all the questions - I am an open book & I love to talk about Down's syndrome. Also, I think it's important to spread as much awareness & acceptance as possible.  I'm looking forward to Rhys' journey & I feel honored to be a part of it.
